Food Funk

I'm kind of in a sad funk today about a whole bunch of things. It started out when I read a tweet this morning from my friend Brooke saying she saw a lady at the Dollar General stealing canned food by stuffing it into her purse. Isn't that so sad? Sweet Brooke offered to pay for the food for the lady and the lady told her she had five kids. Yes, stealing is wrong, but the fact that someone has to steal to feed their five children is more wrong in my opinion.

I've recently been reading and learning about just how many people are food insecure in America and around the world. It is heartbreaking. Something that so many of us take for granted. Nathan and I recently found out about Feed Just One, and I've been so happy to support their mission in the small way we can. I guess the reason this is all so hard for me to comprehend is that we have the power to eradicate this problem. For example, did you know that if every person in America gave up ice cream for one year it would generate enough money to provide clean water worldwide? There would literally be no people group without access to clean water. Doesn't that just blow your mind?

So, that's what's weighing on my heart this happy Monday. ;) I promise I'll be back soon with a more uplifting post.

Just so I don't leave on such a sad note, look who is coming to live with us on Friday! We're so excited! :)
