Fab Friday: music & jewels

My friend Laura hosts a weekly link-up called Fab Fridays and I'm excited to participate today. It's obvious by now that I'm a 31 Days failure, but I'm not really counting it as a fail at all because I'm now back to blogging on a somewhat regular basis and about what I want to share, so yay! I've got just a few things I want to share with y'all that I think are fabulous today.

1) Mumford & Sons new album- Babel

I LOVED, like really, really loved, their album Sigh No More, so I had really high hopes for Babel. They did not disappoint. Mumford & Sons have a way of bridging generations with their spiritual lyrics that speak right to my heart. I know high schoolers who say this is their favorite band, and I know adults of all ages that are loving Mumford & Sons too. With a background as a minister's son, faith and spirituality leak into Marcus Mumford's lyrics, but in a way that speaks to my soul so much more than any gospel hymn I could sing.

2) Katy Perry

Okay, now listen, don't write me off without a little explanation. Yes, I've always been a fan of cheesy pop music. I loved N'Sync, Blink 182 and Incubus all equally in High School. I like to think I'm eclectic, and not just weird. Anyway, I read a blog post that talked about Katy Perry's autobiographical movie "Part of Me" and that it was suprisingly good. The other day I wanted to rent some chick flicks that Nathan would never watch to watch while I folded laundry, so I grabbed this one from the redbox. It was so good. Yes, I enjoyed the music, but more than that I enjoyed learning more about Katy. I've been a Katy Perry fan since before she got super popular because I stumbled on her blog while she was on the Warped Tour and loved her quirky style, so it was fun to see how much she's matured as an artist and as a person. Then today one of my pastors posted this video on facebook and I just loved it.

3) I won TWO blog giveaways this week. Can you believe that? They were both for necklaces from RiffRaff and I love them both. Thanks Rachel at Suburban Strut and Megan at Tales of the Trees I'll be wearing this neck candy soon.

And, because I've been so lucky I want to share that good fortune with y'all next week. Stay tuned for a great giveaway including some of these fab things. If you want to make sure you don't miss it click the follow button! :) Have a fab Friday and a blessed weekend.
