Pro-Life...What I Really Believe

I believe that being pro-life is so much more than being opposed to abortion.

I believe that pro-life means supporting those who choose life when it would be "easy" not to- unwed mothers, teenage mothers, and mothers of those with disabilities.

I believe that being pro-life means that every life has value, whether conception occurs in the backseat of a high school junior's car or if it occurs as a result of rape.

I believe that every Christian is called to orphan care. In fact, the Bible says it best, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." James 1:27 And, to be really honest, I don't believe that verse just means you can throw a little money in someone else's adoption pot and checkmark that action item off of the list. Here's a really great article about this topic.

I believe the solution to the orphan crisis is in the hands of American Christians. We could eradicate this problem worldwide if we were willing to sacrifice on a relatively small scale.

I believe that because we're called to love our neighbor, and we're called to peace, that includes the children in countries that our nation is currently at war with.

Finally, I believe it would be easier to push all of these thoughts aside and focus on fun, happy, exciting, pretty things, but I also believe that Jesus has called me to be different than the world, and I believe that his heart is breaking for his children that are not being loved and cared for like they deserve.

Respectful comments appreciated. If you disagree with something I've said, you're probably not going to change my mind, but I'd love to respectfully dialogue with you about these sensitive topics.
